Consumer expectations in France, as in many countries, for eco-friendly products are growing rapidly.
Wood, a natural, renewable and recyclable material with remarkable mechanical properties in relation to its weight, fire resistance, and exceptional acoustic and thermal performance, is widely favoured by the construction industry.
However, timber must come from sustainably managed forests, logs must be harvested using forest-friendly techniques, and sawn timber must result from an environmentally friendly processing method.
To meet all these requirements, Les Scieries du Centre is PEFC certified, guaranteeing that its supplies give priority to timber from sustainably managed forests.
In accordance with French regulations, its processing method meets all the environmental protection requirements applicable to sawmills, as evidenced by its administrative authorisation to operate an installation classified for environmental protection (ICPE).
PEFC certification and authorisation to operate an ICPE are subject to frequent inspections by independent external bodies or government departments.Engaged in collective professional initiatives, Les Scieries du Centre is a member of the France Douglas and FrenchTimber associations, which promote French timber.
